Robert is originally from Lancashire and grew up in various grim ex-cotton towns, on the moors and among the bright lights of Manchester.
After a misspent adolescence acting for Manchester Youth Theatre, Robert studied theatre and drama at Warwick University, performing regularly with student drama companies. It was also at Warwick that Robert directed his first play and, bitten by the bug, he took a post-graduate theatre directing course at Drama Studio, London.
Since then, he has acted (infrequently) on stage, radio and TV, while pursuing a career directing plays for the London and Edinburgh fringes, off West End and on small scale tours.
But of course, Robert is a perhaps best known for his voice and currently can be heard as Pappa Bee in ITV1's kids' cartoon 'The Hive'.
