Billy Howle – Europe – Donmar Warehouse

Billy is part of an incredible cast who portray a small, dysfunctional community in a town where refugees wait for trains that no longer arrive, locals are unhinged by the death of the industrial base and where young people dream of leaving. Billy plays ‘Berlin’ - an unhappy man who begins to agree with the local, immigrant hating skinheads. The set is the derelict train station where everyone is waiting for their life to progress, and the eerie echoes of the trains swooping by as if the world is passing by.
The play runs until August 10th.

Lesley Sharp – The End of History – Royal Court

Lesley stars as ‘Sal’, the matriarch of a left-wing family, opposite David Morrissey as ‘David’ the father; as they reconnect with their children over a family meal. The play is set over three acts, each one ten years apart and spans from Blair to Brexit; and touches on the politics throughout. However, the main theme is still family - with the main quote being: ‘No talent at all when it comes to cooking – as you will discover – but when it comes to pissing off my children – immense talent – Olympian talent.
The play runs until August 10th.

Cecilia Noble – Faith, Hope and Charity – Dorfman Theatre

In a run-down community hall on the edge of a town, a woman has been cooking lunch for those in need. A choir is starting up run by a volunteer who’s looking for a new beginning. A mother is seeking help in her fight to keep her young daughter from being taken into care. An older man sits silently in the corner; the first to arrive, the last to leave…it all sounds very ominous. The play is in the early stages of rehearsals at the moment but we know if Cecilia is involved, it’s going to be fantastic.
